Katie and Davey's wedding was such a blast! With 22 in their wedding party, this group really knew how to have a good time. There was so much love and excitement that lasted way into the night! Here's what Davey wrote about their day...
Describe your wedding...
"For our wedding we set out to focus on the “big picture” stuff. We wanted to make sure that the food was great, the booze was flowing, people were dancing, and the venue was second to none. When we found the Manor house and started really planning our wedding, we knew that we’d be able to create the event we wanted.
To us, The Manor House is the perfect Colorado venue, with sweeping views of the foothills, the beautiful Denver skyline in the distance, and Red Rocks not far away. We focused on making the details subtle and elegant. We were blessed with a perfect late summer Day in Colorado – blue skies, a light breeze, and abundant sunshine.
The most important details of the day were the people we shared it with. The day was a culmination of two lives coming together, and two support systems becoming one. Sharing our day with friends, family, and loved ones was the reason why the day was so special."
"We had a lot of DIY projects in the Wedding. With the help of my maid of honor, bridesmaids and mother we were able to accomplish many major projects. We made all the centerpieces, the signs (Welcome to our wedding and the signs the ring bears held) a wall of hanging hearts for the sweetheart table and an entire wall backdrop for the dance floor filled with thousands of gold dots. We also asked that guests send us a picture of them on their wedding day and we had a sign that said “Love is Sweet” and at our Candy Table we had the slide show of all the couples on their big day. It was a fun way for people to reminisce about their big day and see a bunch of old wedding photos of friends and family."
What was your experience working with Elizabeth Cryan Photography like?
"Liz is an exceptionally talented and skilled photographer. She has a creative vision but is entirely flexible and adaptable to the moment. Liz is also extraordinarily gracious. We felt that our photos perfectly captured the spirit of the day, and of those in attendance. The photos were lighthearted, warm, and sincere. Liz and her assistant were able to capture the most important moments of the day, and all of the moments in between that truly tell the story.
Katie had followed Liz on Instagram in the months leading up to our engagement and loved the style of her photographs. After our initial visit with Liz, we knew that she would be our photographer. We originally chose a bitterly cold February day for our engagement photo session. After getting stuck in construction traffic, rush hour traffic, and totally misjudging the trip to the decided-upon location, we showed up almost an hour late to our appointment. Embarrassing. Liz wasn’t flustered, and went right to work. We made the best of the quickly disappearing light and cold temperatures and captured some good moments. However, Katie and I were both emotional due to the afternoon leading up to the session, and knew we were not ourselves that afternoon. That ended up showing through in our photos. When we told Liz how we felt, she immediately indicated that if we were not happy, we would take the photos again. The photos didn’t turn out the way we liked by no fault of Liz’s, yet she was totally accommodating and willing to reshoot them. During our second session in June, we were much more relaxed, had totally beautiful weather, and ended up being totally happy with these photos. I don’t think everyone would be so willing to do what Liz did. That really meant a lot to us.
On the wedding day, Liz was poised, swift, and professional. Liz listened to Katie and I, while still guiding us with her vision and expertise. Special talents that Liz didn’t know she had: Our wedding party was huge… 11 Groomsmen, 12 Bridesmaids, a Bride and a Groom. That is a total 25 people plus 2 flower girls and 2 ring bears. I would say gathering puppies is an easier task than getting everyone in our wedding party to be in the same place at the same time. Liz was wonderful. She was able to give direction, get the job done and still have fun. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience. We would absolutely use Elizabeth Cryan Photography again and we have already recommended her to friends."
