Carissa and Clay had a beautiful, intimate wedding at The Wash Park Studio. The ceremony was lit by a wall of golden string lights and then the same space was transformed into the reception space. Carissa’s and Clay’s theme was “The Pigs Have Flown”, as I came to find out, they had a four year engagement! By far the cutest pig detail was the bride and groom piglets of the cake topper. The entire cake and topper was created by the maid of honor… So great! I really enjoyed photographing Carissa and Clay’s wedding and while I’m incredibly happy for them that they are doing so well in their new jobs down in Texas, I’m sad that they aren’t around Denver anymore. A huge thank you to Hannah for second shooting and Alex for assisting! A little bit about Carissa and Clay...
How They Met....
"It all happened one day at the swimming pool... Carissa was invited by one of her friends to attend a pool party. She thought little of it but that it sounded like a fun day in the water. After a few hours of sun and fun, Clay walked out to the pool and was introduced to Carissa, who was sitting at the edge of the pool. They sat together and made small-talk, getting to know each other. Carissa later found out from Clay, that if he had known her height prior to meeting her, he probably would not have been interested. So thank God she was sitting down!
After a long day of outdoor ping-pong, splashing in the water, and chatting, a friend of Clay's asked him when him and Carissa were going to get married. From this, Clay asked Carissa out on a date that evening for pizza. Carissa got one slice of pizza while Clay ate the rest. They walked happily through Denver that evening and enjoyed many chats over email until they met up again, and the rest is history!"
How they got engaged...
"Carissa and Clay drove to Las Vegas for a National Figure Competition Carissa qualified for and participated in. After the competition, Clay and Carissa were ecstatic to go and enjoy the city together. Carissa had requested they visit the Bellagio Fountain that evening to watch the water show. As they walked the city streets that evening, they walked to the Bellagio and enjoyed the spectacular display of the fountains timed perfectly to the music playing in the background.
Clay leaned over Carissa and asked "So what do you think about becoming my wife?". She replied, "We have talked about this, yes one day I will become your wife." Clay whispered in her ear, "So will you?", and he pulled out a ring. Carissa was completely taken by surprise and immediately said "YES!". They spent the rest of the evening enjoying each other's company and imagining what the future holds for them together as a couple."

About Carissa and Clay's wedding and working with Elizabeth Cryan Photography...
"During the wedding planning process, one of the most important elements to me was capturing all the hard work, time, and energy Clayton and I had put into making our day the most special day for us, our family and friends. Of course, photos capture the memories. I was very determined to find a photographer who did not take "cheesy" photos. I wanted VOGUE-esque photos, eliciting beauty and emotion. I looked through tons of portfolios, and when I saw Elizabeth Cryan's photos, I thought they were perfect. They intertwined different elements in an artistic, elegant manner. The colors popped and were well thought out. Even the poses to create the emotions felt in the photos were well done.
Clayton and I did our engagement photos and wedding photos with Liz. We brought a few of our own ideas to the table, which she incorporated wonderfully. We picked the place and let her do her thing. The photos were gorgeous! Liz is wonderful, sweet, kind, and extremely professional. She was even able to make our large family all smile at the same time. I can honestly say we have photos of memories to cherish forever!
I would absolutely recommend Liz Cryan to anyone for any occasion, and I would absolutely use Liz Cryan Photography for my next big event!"
